We all looked forward to auction night, Claudia had a quilt up for auction called Little Turtle Bay. I helped her write a pretty extravagant story about it, she called it her BS writing. Claudia is so funny, she also calls teacher evaluations – humiliation sheets. This little piece has more swakovski crystals on than you could ever dream of. It is the little sister to Turtle Bay. I had planned on bidding on this quilt, as had numerous other quilters. One woman had quilted 4 quilts and brought all her earning to MQS to bid on this quilt. the winning bid was by a quilter who had pooled her money with another woman. This beautiful quilt, which is approximately 36×36 went for 2400 dollars. I ended my bid at 2000 dollars. The proceeds from the auction go to scholarship grants for quilters, it was great fun. My good friend Norma Riehm had entered two pieces in the auction. Both were table runners, either could be used as wall hangings, they sold for a total of 700 dollars. She used rust dyed fabric, silk flowers, angelina, tulle, crystals and many other mediums in her fiber art. check out her blog at quiltingisafineart.blogspot.com There were 27 total pieces, all were beautiful. Enough for now, more when I get home.
